On Monday, February 14, 2022, a team from the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX) spent the day with inmates of the Kumasi Central Prisons as part of the celebration of the month of love.

The purpose of this visit was to donate some items to the inmates of the prison. The items donated were 220 bags of local milled rice and 1,000 pieces of Golden tree chocolate. The Exchange was represented by Wendy Malm (Head, Trading, Central Depository, and Surveillance), Roselyn Siaw (Head, Corporate Affairs and Communication), Solomon Alesobo (Kumasi warehouse manager), Charles Ayibono (Ass. Kumasi Warehouse Manager), and Eric Kwarteng (Aggregation & Farmer Support Officer).

Mrs. Wendy Malm (Head. Trading, Central Depository, and Surveillance), reiterated that this type of gesture forms part of every organization’s corporate social responsibility, and today being a day of love, we thought to give back to our brothers and sisters in Kumasi Central Prison.

Receiving the items on behalf of the prison, CSP Rev. Emmanuel Ansah the Regional Chaplain of the Ghana Prisons Service was very grateful and mentioned that the government is doing their part, but they still need the support of the general public in order to make the prisoners comfortable and calls on the general public to also remember those in prison.

DDP. Samuel Yaw Tannor (Regional Director-General of the Prisons Service) also said that this should not be the last time they are seeing the Exchange and entreats the general public to emulate the gesture and come to their aid.
