RTI COMMISSION IN COLLABORATION WITH RTI UNIT SENSITIZE GCX STAFF ON THE RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT image


Accra, Ghana – 30th August, 2024 – The Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX), in collaboration with the Right to Information (RTI) Commission and the RTI Unit, has successfully conducted a sensitization workshop for its staff to enhance their understanding of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989).

The Workshop focused on increasing awareness of the RTI Act among GCX employees, providing them with the necessary knowledge to handle information requests effectively. Topics covered included an overview and the legal framework of the RTI Act, procedures for processing requests, exempt information, and responsibilities of staff and institutions in ensuring compliance.

“The RTI Act is a significant tool for promoting transparency and accountability in public institutions,” said Mr. Samuel Awuah, a representative from the RTI Commission. “Our goal is to ensure that GCX staff are well-equipped to respond to information requests in a manner that upholds the principles of the Act.”

The sensitization session also featured an interactive segment where staff members had the opportunity to ask questions and gain a clearer understanding of the Act’s application.
