Accra, Ghana – 15th May 2025 – The Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX) welcomed a high-powered delegation from the United Republic of Tanzania, comprising key stakeholders from the country’s capital markets ecosystem. The visiting team included representatives from the Capital Markets and Securities Authority (CMSA), the Ministry of Finance, the Tanzania Brokerage Association, and the Tanzania Startup Association.

The delegation was led by the Chief Executive Officer of the Capital Markets and Securities Authority, CPA. Mr. Nicodemus D. Mkama, and included key stakeholders responsible for shaping and regulating Tanzania’s financial and startup ecosystems.

During the visit, the Tanzanian team engaged with GCX leadership and technical staff to explore the structure, operations, and technology infrastructure that underpin GCX’s success in promoting agricultural transformation, price transparency, and financial inclusion in Ghana. The exchange of ideas also touched on risk management and the broader ecosystem supporting commodity value chains.

Mrs. Wendy Malm, Head, Trading, Central Depository & Market Surveillance, welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the visit, noting that “Pan-African collaboration is key to accelerating inclusive economic growth. We are proud to share our experiences and look forward to continued dialogue with our Tanzanian counterparts.

The visit underscores growing regional interest in leveraging structured commodity exchanges to boost food security, empower smallholder farmers, and mobilize capital for Africa’s transformation agenda.
